Our trip to Jeju-do (5/09)

SDC10746

(As soon as we landed at Jeju airport. Waiting for our rental car. I luv this picture! the boys look so happy to be brothers! )

SDC10752

(After our 1st meal in Jeju. We decided on a highly recommended Jook/porridge place.  We all loved it...even the kids.  The halmuhni at the restaurant gave D and T this Jeju-guul...it's huge, huh? ) BTW, the car rental company provides carseats so the customer doesn't have to bring it w/ them.

SDC10753

(D and his guul) ~

SDC10754

(The first place we stayed at...we split our time b/w 2 places.  This is Phoenix Island. A condo in Subjikoji. This place is newly built and was really nice.  2 bedrooms..living room...kitchen...2 baths.  Very modern building.  BTW, this is the area where 'All In' drama was shot years ago w/ Lee byung hun and Song hae gyo).

SDC10772

Never ending fields of greenery.  You don't get to see this kind of thing in Seoul.  It was so nice to just let the kids GO...and not have to run to catch them...or say no every 5 seconds~ You can see Hubs w/ his DSLR and tripod attached to him...hehe.

SDC10755

The view from our room.

SDC10775

Our building in the background.  I love the 'motion' in this picture. D looks so happy~

SDC10807

Very windy...cause it's an island : )  Quick pic w/ Daddy~

SDC10815

The boys~

SDC10817

One of the theme parks we visited.  Veeeeery korean, no?  hehe~

SDC10833

The last half of our trip was spent in Shilla Hotel.  Oh my it was nice.  We've been here before...before we had kids...and didn't realize then what a great place it is for children.  D and T are at the Gymboree in the Shilla Hotel.  Yes!!! they have  a Gymboree IN the hotel..offering different classes everyday.

SDC10840

One of the other great activities the hotel offered was an Animal feeding program.  There is a small 'zoo' on the grounds...so the kids got a tour of the area...and got to feed various animals (bunnies, Koi fish, ferrets, parrots, etc).  Devin esp. luved this part ~

It was just an overall 'fun' trip for the kids.  Our 1st family vacation as a family of 4 !  It was pretty memorable.  Esp. because it was my 30th birthday during the trip.  The hotel's manager sent up a complimentary cake for my birthday...it was sweet : )

Sorry these pics aren't that 'pretty.'  We have more pictures from Hubby's DSLR (and we all know the picture quality from dslr's are sooo much better than P&S's)...but they are on the other computer...and i'm just too lazy...keke.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

looks like you all had fun! B and I are still too skurred to go on an ACTUAL vacation with the girls. Going to Cali doesn't count because grandma and gramps are there to help watch the kids.

@so_droll80 - oh yeah..i understand the 'fear.' to be quite honest..it was not so much a 'vacation' for the parents. I don't think we'll ever get to relax on a trip until the kids are at least in upper elementary school.  It was stressful and tiring.  BUT...we did it for the kids.  Letting them experience new things..see new places...and capturing those memories on film..*sigh*  There needs to be a NEW word for trips w/ kids (not the word vacation)..hehe  ; )

These are great pics! I really love the first pic too!! I can't believe how much T has grown!! I want some of that ggul!! :) How long did it take you to get to Jeju from Seoul? We are planning to go to Hong Kong later this year but also want to do a week in Korea. Where in Jeju is Shila located? It's so awesome the services they offer!!

I love the first photo, it's really funny of D sitting on T.  Che-ju Do is a really pretty place...  Did you go on the hill that makes it feel like you're moving when you're not???  I like the guul photos too.  What is a guul anyways?  T doesn't look nearly as thrilled to get one as D did!!  haha

Looks like you all had fun, I'm jealous, I want a real vacation!!  ;)

Looks like you guys had a wonderful time.  What a great idea to have a Gymboree at a hotel.  The car seat looks like an airplane seat.  Looks huge.

@kimchispice - I'm sooooooo sorry this comment is so late : (  the jetlag is to blame~ The flight from Seoul to Jeju is only 40-45 minutes...so it's really short.  And Shilla is located in the main part of Jeju...so it's close to all the main tourist areas as well.  A trip to HK and korea sounds like fun : )

@korean_angel214 - Soooory...this reply is so late! thank you. Oh yeah, we visited that 'mysterious' hill that keeps cars moving even when ur stopped (but that was on our last trip...not this one).  Oh a 'guul' is normally what we call a tangerine in the US...but in Jeju...they have their own 'patented'? version...and it's MUCH bigger....but more sour? than sweet ; )
